European doctorate label
You can benefit from the "European Doctorate" label, in addition to your doctoral degree, if you meet the following four conditions:
- A stay of at least one term in another European country*,
- Authorisation to defend the thesis must be given on the basis of two reports written by at least two professors belonging to two higher education institutions in two European countries other than the country in which the thesis is defended,
- The jury for the defence must include at least one member from a higher education institution in a European country other than the one where the doctorate is being defended.
- Part of the thesis defence must be conducted in a European language other than the national language of the country where the doctorate is being defended.
* European country" means one of the member countries of the European Union extended to the other states of the European Free Trade Association (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland).
