Fourth edition of “My 3-minute PhD thesis” within the European UNITA alliance – Application now opened
We are pleased to announce the fourth edition of the research communication competition “My 3-Minute PhD Thesis”, open to all PhD candidates from the European UNITA Alliance (10 partner universities).
Your challenge: Present your research in 3 minutes, in a clear and engaging way, to a non-specialist audience - in English.
Competition Structure
First step:
Online training & local competition
- Participants will attend 5 hours of online training in April, in small international groups (around 10 PhD candidates). Please note that the first online meeting for all PhD students is scheduled on March 31, 3 p.m. CET.
- Each of the 10 partner universities will then hold a local competition.
- On May 12, 2026, each university will select two PhD candidates to advance to the final.
Second step:
Final training & international competition (in person)
- The finalists will take part in a one-week training and final competition at the Università degli Studi di Brescia, Italy, from June 29 to July 3, 2026.
- This event will be held within a UNITA gathering, bringing together partners from across the Alliance.
- The final training will focus on:
- Speaking confidently under pressure
- Voice control and body language
- Stage presence and audience engagement
- Interaction with the jury and the public
